‘Not’ the Village Show

September 12th, 2020

Years ago, the Annual Broughton Village Show was known as ‘Not the Broughton  Gala’ – for reasons linked to a topical comedy show of the early 80’s. This year the title came from the restrictions imposed on us due to Covid19.

Ironically, the down-sized event on the car park of The Red Lion saw the best weather we have had for the show in the last few years. A satisfyingly steady stream of people came to support the Produce stall, the Cake stall, and the Raffle (all at a social distance) and we were able to acknowledge Broughton’s Champions – our local Lock-down Legends.

Thanks to the support on the day, we took over £800 on the afternoon, and with a donation of £500 from HSBC in support of the event we achieved a total profit, for the development of the village hall and playing fields, of £2500.

Thank you to everyone who contributed in any way, and we hope next year to be back at the village hall for an event a bit closer to the norm.
