Broughton Playing Fields and Village Hall Management Committee has ambitious plans for the ongoing development of our village hall and playing fields to improve the indoor and outdoor facilities for existing user groups and to meet the demands of the residents and organisations in our local community.
Developing the Building
Planning permission for developing the building was agreed by Kettering Borough Council in January 2015 and revised in 2017. The phased development included an outdoor play area completed in August 2015, new toilets off the main hall which were finished in 2016, both projects were completed in partnership with Broughton Under 5s and with support from local trusts.
The revised planning permission includes extending the hall and creating a stage area, extending and improving changing facilities, the addition of a large Community Room and 3 external storage units. The new storage units were completed in February 2019 which locked in the planning permission for the rest of the development. The first phase of improvements to the changing facilities were completed in August 2019.
We will shortly be turning our attention to the phasing and funding of the other elements of our development plans – full details can be found in our development plan.
Developing Facilities Outside
Our plans include the development of the amenities to encourage outdoor activities. The key elements of which are a Multi-
The Skate Ramp project was finally completed in May 2020 which is a great addition for youngsters in the village. This was largely funded by the Section 106 (S106) funds arising from the Cransley Green development within the village.
A community project saw a petanque court created during the summer of 2019
We have successfully completed a variety of projects over recent years with total costs exceeding £110,000 which we could not have done without the support of our local community, local trusts and charities and Kettering Borough Council. We are most grateful to everyone.
We are now working on attracting funding for the MUGA and Hall extension as well as other minor projects. We have further funds available from the S106 monies and our own development fund which we hope will help us attract community grants and charitable donations.
Continued support and fundraising from within the village community will be necessary to make sure we can turn these plans into reality.
