Registered Charity No. 1023385

The Preschool is a registered charity and operates from Broughton Village Hall. We have been running since 1980 and will continue to provide our valuable service for the forthcoming years.  The preschool is registered with OFSTED with a good rating in September 2010 and offers placements to children from the age of 2 years 9 months until school age. Government funding is available from the term after a child is 3 years old currently at 15 hours per week.

We strive to serve our community’s needs with our friendly dedicated team of qualified staff who provide care and education following the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) within a happy and stimulating environment enriched by community support.

Our sessions currently run Monday – Friday 9.15-12.15pm. Our registers for the future are filling up. If you wish your child to benefit from attending Broughton Under Fives please put your name on our waiting list as soon as possible.

The preschool is managed entirely by a volunteer committee whose dedication shines through. We believe all the children in our community deserve an opportunity to benefit from the high standards which are available at Broughton Under Fives and with your continuing support this will be possible,

Seen it on TV Always wanted to give it a go - Now’s your chance.

The Broughton indoor bowls club was formed in 1988 with the intention of providing gentle exercise and an enjoyable afternoon for like minded people. We have continued to keep to that aim and have a good regular attendance at our afternoon bowling sessions. However, new members are always welcome so why not come and try your hand at a beautiful and fun game.

Your first two visits are completely free and all equipment is supplied by the Club (including a cuppa and a biscuit). All you need to bring is a pair of flat shoes and a smile.

We play every Monday and Thursday afternoon from 1.45pm to 4.15pm. So don’t be shy and give it a try. I

nterested? Then phone Phil for details on 01536 791438 or just turn up. You will definitely be made welcome. Remember, there is no such thing as a stranger…Just a friend we have yet to meet.

If you decide to join then membership is only £5 per year and then £2.50 per session. Interested? Contact Phil West on 01536 791438 or email

Every other Thursday 19:00 to 21:00 in the Meachem Room

Open to anyone over the age of 18 who has a ukulele and wants to do more than just sing and strum.

Because we tend not to sing we also welcome anyone who is reasonably proficient at playing the whistle, recorder, flute, violin, mandolin etc. i.e. instruments that can carry the melody. That is what the ‘Plus’ stands for in the name.

Our typical evening comprises:

. playing the traditional ‘fiddle’ tunes: Hornpipes, Polkas. Jigs, Reels etc. to start and end the session.

. A slot to play tunes that will improve our picking,

. and a slot to practicing more demanding pieces, ones that adopt more interesting chord sequences and harmonies.

Cost is £2 per session which includes tea/coffee and biscuits.

KFA Moves combines dance, movement and exercise in a way that is suitable for all ages and abilities.   If you tap your feet to music, then this is the class for you.  Dance is your body’s natural way to move and music inspires movement.

And our classes are fun! – you also exercise your smile muscles-   which is why we have class members who come back year after year - keeping fit for life!

Why not come along one Thursday and  give it a try – your first class is FREE –you will be welcomed by other class members -  and it might be the best move you ever made.

KFA Moves is the brand name of the Keep Fit Association, which is a national training body for Exercise Movement and dance recognised by Sport England.  All registered KFA teachers are Level 3, Advanced Fitness Instructors, so you know you are in safe hands.      In addition to weekly class, there are often social events organised throughout the year – from quiz nights to National Championships and a Festival of Movement with performances from KFA classes across the country.

In 1988 a group of parents in the village got together to raise funds for their local school’s PTA. They organised a variety show involving many of the village’s voluntary groups and in the process discovered their liking for amateur dramatics. A couple of months later, with a locally written Panto under it’s tunic belt, Broughton Players was formed as an independent entity, donating income to the school, local causes and using the remainder to improve costumes and set over the years – the main aim to entertain and have fun doing it. Of the six original members, four are still actively involved – zimmers permitting.

The group aims to put on at least one ‘production’ a year, a Panto every couple of years or so, plus  ‘Murder Mystery’ evenings, Casino Nights and other social events.

There is also a Youth Theatre for budding actors between the ages of 10 and 17.

We are always keen to hear from anyone who would like to get involved, not only performing but with costumes, publicity, set building, sound and lighting, front of house, and all the other jobs that make the productions so successful.

We have open membership with around 25 currently in the group, ages ranging from 16 to 60.

If you have an interest in amateur dramatics – whether it be helping backstage or taking a part in front of curtain, please go to our website for more information:
